The Thornlie Senior Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of David Griffiths as the new senior coach. David has been appointed for the next 2 seasons.
The appointment of David is a great coup for the club with him having spent many years as a coach and committee person with the junior sides where he was a dual premiership coach with both 15’s and 17’s sides as well as previously coaching our colts side.
David has a wealth of experience as a coach, some of which is detailed below:
- Being a Level 3 coach
- Football “coach of the year” for the Sunday Football League
- Australian Football Coaches Association committee member for 11 years
David has also held senior roles with WAFL club Perth where he has served as both an assistant coach and as a Vice President of the Club and also at East Fremantle as an assistant coach.
The club is certainly pleased that David has agreed to “come home”.
David has a great back up team of coaches in the colts, reserves and E grade in Daryl, Ross and Marty with an exciting crop of talented players in the colt’s side, some of whom have already tasted senior football this season.
Whilst the senior sides are generally lacking numbers due to a number of reasons including medium to long term injuries, the great challenge for the league side for the remainder of the season is to win games to ensure we are not relegated to a lower grade.
Currently after 9 rounds the club is going OK though. Whilst the league have only won the 1 game, the reserves are sitting 4th with 6 wins, the E grade is currently 3rd with 7 wins and the colts are 2nd with 7 wins from their 9 matches.
Like any club, winning games of footy is what it is all about and with the commitment of all players, coaches, support staff and supporter’s, we can set the wheels in motion for a successful second half of the season and build on that for the 2012 season, both on and off the field for the club.
If anyone can provide support on game day for any of the sides, it would be really appreciated – the more the merrier, so please see any of the coaches or committee people.
